I am running for the United States Congress to provide more Business Sense and less Party Politics in the running of our Federal Government.
While researching the major issues that affect the nation (Jobs, Economy, Immigration, Education and others), I've found that they all boil down to a community's, just like the 5th District's, Independence and Quality of Life. When elected, I will bring my experience (Problem Solving, Organizational Change Management, Audit, and the Constitution) to provide meaningful and effective solutions that improve the lives and the businesses here in Atlanta & surrounding regions.
As an Independent Contractor, I recognize that my clients, YOU, are the ones who are paying the bills, so it is in my best interest to keep your interests at the forefront of my objectives. I can and will represent the common interests of District 5 by reducing, in an organized manner, Federal influence over Domestic issues that District 5 can best handle Locally. Let's keep Our money and efforts as close to home as we can, and pay for Federal and State services that We delegate.

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Central Planning (Socialism) requires Central Authority to operate. This means someone else has assumed the responsibility of managing the quality of your life without being held accountable for any failures. Our Federal Government's true responsibility is to make sure we have as much control over our individual and community's quality of life as we can muster.
The farther away a decision is made from the cause of an issue, the less ability to positively affect it in an efficient and effective manner.

Entitlement
vs
Enablement |
Entitlement programs, by their very nature, increase dependency of the people who rely on them. They have also become profitable for those who manage and supply them. The natural course of life shows that we all begin in a Dependent state and then become increasingly Independent as we mature. Entitlement programs keep many in a constant state of dependency throughout life.
Enablement programs (i.e. Education, Local Governance) should by their very nature enable Independence. If enablement programs are designed to prevent the need for Entitlements, then ability replaces dependence and we are free to pursue our own Quality of Life.

The current focus on Change in the Federal government is clearly based on special interest ideology and it comes at the expense of most of the population. Change simply for the sake of Change is not a plan nor in the common interest of our Nation or communities.
Change needs to come about in an organized fashion just like successful Businesses have been doing for decades. Organized Change Management (OCM) is the process by which these businesses bring about improvements in a carefully planned way. This methodology addresses the uncertainty that always comes with Change, communicates the plans, and provides an avenue for the citizens to participate in the process.
It is essential that those in Washington start utilizing sound business methods like OCM to not only plan for the changes that are needed, but also insure a process that gets your input throughout the process.

Central Planning
vs
Distributed Planning |
Central Planning requires Central Authority. In times of all out War it is necessary in order to best protect the lives and property of the citizens. However, in times of relative Peace it supposes that the few are better equipped than the many in the running of our daily lives. It forces a State of Dependency.
Distributed Planning requires Independence. It supposes that individuals should be able to manage their own lives and allows for the People to pool their resources voluntarily in times of need. It encourages a State of Independence.

The Proper role of the United States government is clearly defined in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution.
The Founders were very concerned about the Federal government becoming too influential in the everyday lives of Americans, so they defined exactly what the Federal government is responsible for, and left all other responsibilities to the States or the People.
Too much power in the hands of the few is just as dangerous today as it was 234 years ago when the People of the United States created a system of government that took that power from the few and placed in the hands of the many.
Common sense will tell you that the farther away a governing body is, the less effective it will be at resolving local issues. It also shows that governing Locally is more effective. The United States government is not about Authority, it was created to protect our right and ability to govern ourselves.
|
Proper Role of Government |
| The United States Constitution |
The Great American Experiment is not our Republican form of Government or even the US Constitution, it is Independence.
The Constitution is not a "Living and Breathing" document that is to be interpreted by the few and summarized for the many, but a Rigid set of rules that is meant to be Understood and Practiced by all. Technically we should be a Nation of Constitutional Lawyers.
Imagine for a moment playing Football without knowing the rules with Referees who take sides, and the rules are different depending on what jersey & number you wear. The athletic skills you worked at so hard to acquire become secondary to your ability to manipulate the system to your advantage. We cannot have a system where those that can keep up with all the Rules are more competitive than those who can apply themselves.

Given my understanding of each of the issues and common problem solving techniques, I am beginning with Starting Points rather than the Solutions. We need a Congress that is willing to put aside party politics and that understands first hand the needs of the people they represent.
We are all in this together and the more people that participate, the more information we will have to work with to provide sensible and effective solutions.

| Economy |
Economy: noun 1. management (of a house), careful management, thrift.
The National debt is a huge problem. Our Federal government is living off too much credit while our nation is under-employed. We must cut arbitrary and redundant Federal Services & Spending.
Centrally planned Economies do not work for one simple reason, they are too complicated. Our Federal government is trying to do too much and is failing miserably. Why? Because they are too few and no matter how smart they are, they cannot predict the outcome of every event for the many.
The are trying to manage the house for far too many dependents. How? By throwing the money of those that can manage their households at the infinite number of problems that face those that cannot. This just creates more dependents at the expense of the Independent.
Success in the last century allowed them to take this course but we are at the breaking point.
The answer to our failing economy is simple. Relieve the Federal Government of of all the responsibilities that it has unconstitutionally assumed and return them to Local control. The Federal government has too much on their plate, let's give them a hand by taking responsibility for our Local concerns. They can then concentrate on Federal issues such as Immigration and the Federal Reserve. Households are best managed within one's own house.
The Economy is a very broad and complicated issue, but if we break it down our National Economy is simply the sum of all of our individual, local, and regional economies with dependencies on Global economies. If we have many prospering local and regional economies the National will benefit accordingly.
Local Independence is the remedy for out of control government spending.

Jobs are not created by Politicians, they are created by the Business Men and Women of the world and too few have been created here in the US over the last several years. While we cannot become Isolationists, understanding that American Products and Services create a demand for American Workers is a must.
The United States has lost too many Manufacturing jobs because it has become too costly to produce goods here. Unions, which are rarely more than a Monopoly on Labor, poorly written treaties such as NAFTA, and Arbitrary Regulations are the major factors in our inability to compete on the World market. We must restore our Manufacturing superiority that made us an Economic SuperPower.
We can no longer ignore the prosperity of our Small Businesses. When elected, I will see to it that a Small Business Caucus is created in the US Legislature dedicated to taking on the issues facing 90% of our companies that employ 50% of our workers.
Taxes and Competition-reducing Regulations have tied the hands of Business for far too long. Our Small Businesses make up a Large and very Important part of our daily lives and need Proper Representation.
It takes several Private sector jobs to pay for 1 Public sector job. Each government job deleted equates to several Private sector jobs that can be created. We must eliminate Arbitrary Federal jobs in order to create Necessary Private jobs.
Government jobs take from the People's coffers while Private jobs contribute to them.

| Taxes |
Tax: noun 1. a sum of money demanded by a government for its support, facilities, and services.
In 2009, the United States demanded 2.1 Trillion dollars from its Citizens, and it cost the American People an additional $200 Billion to hire professionals to prepare our taxes. That is nothing less than an additional 10% tax because all taxes are reflected in the price of the products and services that we consume. Furthermore, it takes an additional 90,000 IRS employees at a cost of 12 Billion dollars per year to actually collect the taxes.
Our Federal, State, and Local governments are Service Organizations. Services cost money and we must cut costs to prevent ending up like Greece and much of Europe.
Currently there are over 500 Federal Agencies many of which are redundant at the State level. There are only 20 responsibilities delegated to the United States government.
Why are we sending money to Washington for services that we can better take care of right here at home?
By reducing the Federal services that we already take care of right here at home and further limiting the Federal government to its proper role, we will greatly reduce the Federal Tax burden.
Tax collection must also be reformed. We must demand a Fair or similar Tax collection method that does not encourage citizens and businesses to avoid paying taxes by cheating or by using the designed loopholes in the ever growing 67,000 page tax code.
We should not be required to hire a professional to pay for our Government Services!

Education is the keystone for solving all the problems we face today.
Education must be treated as a method of Enablement that is designed to reduce and prevent the need for Entitlement and Dependency programs.
While a proper Education does not ensure Independence, having one with the goal of Independence is a step in the right direction. If you teach a child how to learn and give them a broad set of subjects to practice upon, they will be better prepared to carve their own way through life.
The US Constitution, or the rules by which we all live, must be part of any Education designed to promote self sufficiency and Independence.

Education |
| National Security |
Our National Security requires both the Strength to defend Our ways of Life and the Wisdom act appropriately when adversity strikes our Citizens or National Interests, both internally and externally.
Internally, the Constitution and Rule of Law is being Reformed into a system of Central Authority and Rule of Special Interest. We must Restore the Constitution and the Rule of Law which allows American Citizens and their Communities to prosper through the Strength and Wisdom of the Local Citizens and their Representatives.
Externally, we must seek to resolve the conflicts in the Middle East and Central Asia in a manner that reflects our Strengths through actions that are born from our Wisdom. Our Founders noted that Neutrality was the keystone for maintaining Peace, and while great difficulties arise from being a Super Power (arguably the top), we must consider the benefits of being as Neutral as possible. Peace is not a method, it is an outcome.

Social Security is not an Entitlement, it belongs to the People who have paid into it but Congress has turned it into a source to fund Entitlements to many who have not paid into it.
If a Private investment bank unilaterally changed its contract with you, you could sue it for breach of contract, but with Politicians and the Law, they can make promises, break them, and call it Public Policy.
Bottom line, Social Security is already in danger and using it to fund other programs must be corrected while we figure out how to phase it into a sustainable system.
The “fix” for Social Security is not longer a matter of just reforming the system and financial model of collecting funds into the program. The irresponsible management of our nation’s budget, overspending by Federal government, and reckless investment schemes all have an impact. This is a very expensive, complicated, and more importantly Public matter, so whatever the solution is, it must be clear and communicated to the people before executing any plan.
By using large system reorganization methods SS can be improved for those who contribute their earnings to it and privately expanded for those who desire options. Foremost, the fantasy “lock box” must be restored to full integrity and safe guarded.

| Health Care |
Health Care is NOT a right nor does the Federal Government have any say in how one must tend to his or her own health.
Health Care is the sum of all the good health choices one makes in his or her daily life and the access to preventative and emergency care.
Looking to the Federal Government for the centralized management of hundreds of millions of people's health may seem like an inviting prospect but we have seen what occurs with the centralized management of Medicare, which like Social Security is close to insolvency.
Ron Paul has prepared the most sensible plan to date with the Private Option Health Care Act, here are a few highlights.
- A. Provides all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses. The tax credit is fully refundable against both income and payroll taxes;
- B. Allows individuals to roll over unused amounts in cafeteria plans and Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA);
- C. Provides a tax credit for premiums for high-deductible insurance policies connected with a Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and allows seniors to use funds in HSAs to pay for medigap policies;
- D. Repeals the 7.5% threshold for the deduction of medical expenses, thus making all medical expenses tax deductible.
It is the individual that has the most control over their Health, and it makes sense that the decisions regarding Health Care be addressed as close to home as possible.

Illegal Immigration must be stopped.
Arizona's immigration law is not about Race, it is about the Respect and Enforcement of US Law. The immigration laws we have in place, but are not enforcing were created to act in the best interests of Americans and the Millions of people who want to Legally reside and work here.
The practice of anchor babies must be eliminated. The 14th Amendment's citizenship clause was intended to dispel any argument of whether former slaves or children of former slaves were United States citizens. It was not written to provide a loophole so that the long line to get in this country could be circumvented through procreation.
It is without a doubt that this year's elections are above all about Jobs. Whether the jobs that Illegal Immigrants are fulfilling are those that Americans do not want or not, we must first make them available to those that are here Legally.
Every dollar earned here and sent 'home' to a foreign bank account is one that cannot be spent here, loaned here, or used to buy goods, foreign or American, that add to our community's well being.
Americans are hurting for work and our wallets are thin. We must act in our own interests before we can again afford to have Jobs that we don't want.

Cap & Trade
and
Environment |
CAP & Trade and CO2 regulation by the EPA must be put on hold until we have some solid answers.
If Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is a reality, then there is an extreme danger to our environment. If AGW is not a reality, then the measures being put into place by the Progressives arbitrarily pose an extreme danger to our economy and to our sovereignty.
We must not readily accept the conclusions of the AGW Believer's colleagues and peers, but rather put the Believer's claims up to the test of Critical Review. I've spent nearly 10 years studying the physics behind weather and climate, and I am confident that Convection (i.e. wind, rain, storms, indeed all weather) is far superior at cooling the Earth's surface than what little Radiation that is 'trapped' can warm it.
I can hold my own on this subject and I'd like to hold a debate with ANY AGW Believer prior to November to prove it.
Global Warming aka Climate Change has become a diversion from cleaning up the real pollution that is damaging our environment. This deserves our full attention, not by schemes to add taxes and make special interest wealthy, but by tried and true remediation and clean up efforts.
A solid answer to the Global Warming debate can be found within two years. We don't need thousands of Earths to test on, we need to hold open and public debates between the Believers and Skeptics. We must put off the draconian CAP & Trade measures for that long to either confirm or falsify Anthropogenic Global Warming, and then proceed based upon solid science.
The BP Oil Spill has once again shown that our State and Local Governments should be prepared to resolve our own environmental issues. There is no excuse for LA to have to ask Washington DC for permission to protect itself in the manner that is most available to them. The EPA has too much arbitrary power and it must be reeled back in. The Federal Government should be asking what they can do to help, not holding our Local communities hostage to rules and regulations in this emergency.
Local Environmental Protection is far superior to Federal.

Independence: noun 2. freedom from the control, influence, support, aid, or the like, of others
You can see that Independence is my central theme and is the cure for the vast majority of the issues that face our Nation.
Independence, both politically and self-sufficiency, is the path to a better Quality of Life for all of us.
Folks, this election is not about politics, it is about restoring our ability to care of ourselves and communities so that we are able to care for our neighbors and/or they are able to care for us when adversity strikes.
Whether elected or not I pledge every bit of my experience and influence to the Independence of every American Citizen. If elected and with your support that influence and experience will be greatly enhanced.
It is time, once again led by Americans, for the Human Race to discover Independence; our first and last frontier. We cannot be carried or dragged, but we can collectively remove the obstacles so that we can each make our own way. Americans have been and will always be Pioneers.
Join me in removing those obstacles and paving a new path to Independence for all Americans!

| Work Experience |
I have done work for a number of Fortune 500 companies and the Federal Government both as an employee and an independent contractor.
My career began in Rockville MD at a software development firm as a First Level Support technician. Sound fancy? I moved up to a Database Administrator and then onto the Implementation team for a new type of system called an Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP) which was truly the beginning of my career.
ERP's at the time were a means to take the many different systems that it took back then to run a company and replace them with one system that does it all. They have evolved into the systems that run nearly every complex business today.
In my 15 years of professional experience I have had the opportunity to work on some very challenging projects and with some very bright people. The teams that I have been a part of and led have faced very similar challenges to the ones government now faces such as budget, resources, time, manpower, and let's not forget politics.
I have had a number of roles on the various teams including Installation, Maintenance, Upgrades, Auditing & Governance, and Architect ranging from worker bee to management. I have a fundamental understanding of Large Systems (i.e. Government) and their Interdependencies and I'm prepared to put it to use in Washington, DC.
